For our project on pattern, I took photos of New York City and was inspired by the urban life, bold colours, bright lights, graffiti and the art galleries. My idea was to contrast flock patterns with urban graffiti, to create something bold, colourful and exciting. I found the mark marking class really helped me to develop these patterns. Also, that spray paints and latex really helped to develop my designs and give that urban effect. I really enjoyed this project as I got to bring in painting skills into the project and play around with fabrics.

Mark Making Workshop
Making marks and patterns from the photos, this was really enjoyable. I found it easy to find patterns within my images. I also tried to use different techniques to illustrate the patterns.
Pattern
I took photos of New York city and Limerick city, comparing and contrasting the different patterns found around the streets. I found the neon and graffitti really striking, great for colour and pattern.
